Seminar Title: Co-evolution of Language and Culture

Description:
This quarter's seminar will focus on reading through the book Evolution in Four Dimensions: Genetic, Epigenetic, Behavioral, and Symbolic Variation in the History of Life by Eva Jablonka and Marion J. Lamb. This is in some ways a natural continuation of last quarter's topic on the relevance of biological models to behavioral science research. Evolution in Four Dimensionsrepresents an effort to develop a unified analytic approach to cross-disciplinary research. The weekly discussion of chapters will revolve around participant organizers: class participants will be reponsible for leading weekly discussions of assigned chapters. This will require the presentation of some summary remarks and guiding discussion questions. Given the variety of fields covered in the book, discussion of chapters will demand active participation of all attendees.
